About Our Neighborhood

Legend has it that Joe's Creek was named for Joe Welch, who lived near Forest and old Marsh Lane, now called Cox Lane (click here for a map).

The creek is spring fed as part of the Joe's Creek Watershed.

There was a huge flood Oct. 8, 1962, which is still remembered by some of our longtime neighbors. Residents of the neighborhood had to wage a major political battle to keep the creek from becoming a cemented storm wash.

Our neighborhood association is an informal one. We charge no dues and rely solely on volunteers and donations for all activities.

We began by organizing the Joe's Creek Dallas Neighborhood Association on March 25, 2006. Originally, that included the 229 homes in the Highland North and Timberbrook subdivisions of Northwest Dallas inside Marsh, Merrell, Cromwell and Woodleigh.

We have since grown to include the 99 homes from Timberview to Walnut Hill, including the Walnut Garden subdivision bounded by Cromwell, Salisbury, Whirlaway and Webb Garden.

Here's an interactive aerial view that shows the Joe's Creek and Walnut Garden areas, nearby schools and parks.
